Terms of Service
Last updated: 4 September 2026
These terms apply to Portover, an Android app published by Hugo Software ("we", "us"). By installing or using Portover you agree to them.
What Portover is
Portover reads the contacts and, optionally, the calendar events stored on your own device and turns them into standard backup files — vCard (.vcf), iCalendar (.ics) and comma-separated values (.csv) — that you keep and control.
Portover is read-only with respect to your phone's data. It does not add, edit, merge or delete contacts or calendar events. When you restore, Portover hands the file to your phone's own Contacts app, which performs the import.
Free and Pro
Most of Portover is free, with no contact limit and no watermark: backing up every contact to a .vcf file, saving it to Downloads, sending it anywhere through the Android share sheet, restoring from a file, and seeing a summary of duplicate and incomplete records.
Portover Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription that adds the full duplicate report, clean backups with duplicates left out, calendar backups, the installed-app checklist, account-filtered backups, spreadsheet export, the unlimited backup vault, and the backup inspector.
Subscriptions, trials and cancellation
- Portover Pro is offered as weekly, monthly and yearly auto-renewing subscriptions. The current price is shown inside the app and on Google Play in your own currency.
- A free trial is offered on each plan. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the subscription begins and the plan renews automatically.
- Payment is charged to your Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in the Google Play Store app, under Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions. Uninstalling Portover does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Google Play under its own policies. We cannot issue refunds directly.
Your responsibilities
- Keep more than one copy of anything important. A backup that exists only on the phone it came from is not a backup. Save your file to Downloads and send a copy somewhere else.
- Check a backup before you rely on it. Portover Pro includes a backup inspector for exactly this reason.
- Once you send a backup file to another app, service or person, that file is out of Portover's hands and out of ours. Choose the destination carefully — a contacts file contains other people's personal data, and it is your responsibility to handle it lawfully.
- Do not use Portover to copy contact data you have no right to.
No warranty
Portover is provided "as is". We work hard to make the export correct and complete, and it uses Android's own contacts exporter for exactly that reason, but we cannot guarantee that every field on every device and every Android version is preserved perfectly, that a backup file will import identically into every other app, or that the app will be free of errors or interruptions.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for lost, corrupted or incorrectly imported data, or for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of Portover. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim.
Changes
We may update Portover and these terms. Material changes will be reflected by the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Termination
You may stop using Portover at any time by uninstalling it, which also deletes the backup files held in the app's private storage. We may discontinue the app or a feature, in which case any active subscription is handled through Google Play.
